Google has announced that it will no longer remove posts that have “inappropriate or offensive content” from its employee forums, which include comments about employees and their family members.
The company said it would no longer “host or host-feed” comments, which can be shared anonymously.
“We recognize that offensive and hateful comments have no place in the Google community and that we should all strive to treat all people with respect and dignity,” the company said in a blog post.
“As we continue to make progress, we want to make sure we take every opportunity to improve the experience for our customers and colleagues around the world.”
Google says it removed comments in response to an investigation by the New York Times that alleged some employees posted comments in violation of India’s hate speech laws.
The Times later removed the articles from its website.
The New York Post has also removed comments from its blog.
